Working in partnership for an integrated care of cats
Whilst working in rescue I developed and valued the strong relationships made with many veterinary practices. I believe it is important for behaviourists and vets to work in partnership, for the best interests of the client and their cat. Many health conditions can cause behavioural changes and many of the challenges that cats face can lead to stress and anxiety which it turn can effect their health. I believe that together we can help improve the wellbeing and welfare of cats.
In line with Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) Codes of Practice, a client's registered Veterinary Surgeon is always consulted before I work with them on a behavioural issue. This also applies to clients who contact me directly.
Educational remote courses for clients
I also work on preventative behaviour support and education through my Kitten club and Senior Kitizen club packages.
In Kitten club clients with a new kitten gain knowledge and support whilst being guided through socialisation and training methods that ultimately teach owners to train their kittens to walk into a carrier, be confident around strangers and be handled for a health check. Skills that make vet trips much easier for you, the client and the cat.
In Senior kitizen club clients are advised on monitoring their older cats for signs of old age, ill health and mobility issues So that older cats can be seen for health issues quicker with more confident and relaxed clients.
